A 4.5 kW rooftop solar power system is a medium-capacity solar installation suitable for residential homes or small commercial buildings. It generates electricity by converting sunlight into electrical energy through photovoltaic (PV) panels installed on the rooftop. The system generally includes 10 to 12 high-efficiency solar panels, a 4.5 kW inverter, mounting structures, DC and AC protection devices, and associated cabling.
Under normal sunlight conditions, a 4.5 kW rooftop system can produce approximately 18–22 units (kWh) of electricity per day, depending on geographic location, roof orientation, and shading. This capacity is ideal for households with higher electricity consumption and can comfortably run lighting, fans, refrigerators, televisions, washing machines, water pumps, and multiple air conditioners.
The system can be configured as on-grid, hybrid, or off-grid. On-grid systems allow surplus electricity to be exported to the utility grid through net metering, while hybrid and off-grid systems include battery storage for backup power. A 4.5 kW rooftop solar system significantly reduces electricity bills, enhances energy independence, and contributes to environmental sustainability by using clean, renewable energy.
